Working Hours and Shifts
Malls in Riyadh operate from 10am to midnight (later during Ramadan and weekends). Mall workers do 8-hour shifts in rotating patterns. Most shops within malls require staff to be present 30 minutes before opening and after closing. Friday is typically the busiest day. Ramadan creates unique patterns with evening hours being most active. Many malls have separate male and female working hours/sections in line with cultural norms.
Visa and Iqama Process
The retail brand or mall management hires through their HR or recruitment agencies. After selection, you receive a retail-sector work visa. Upon arrival in Riyadh, the employer arranges accommodation and starts the Iqama process (90-day completion). Large retail brands have streamlined HR processes handling hundreds of new hires monthly.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates should be aged between 20 and 38, well-groomed, with good communication skills. Sales positions typically require English fluency (and often a second language – Arabic, Urdu, Tagalog, or French is valuable). Back-of-house roles like cleaners need only basic literacy. A minimum of 10th-grade education is preferred, though graduates and diploma holders are preferred for sales and supervisory roles. Previous retail or hospitality experience is highly valued. Good appearance and grooming standards are important for customer-facing roles.
Document Checklist
Required documents include passport (18+ months validity), recent formal photographs, educational certificates, experience letters (especially for sales positions in luxury brands), character certificate, language proficiency certificates (where applicable), medical fitness certificate, and any retail training certifications.
How to Apply

Cleaners and helpers can move into supervisory roles in facility management. Many mall employees transition to corporate retail positions, buying offices, or visual merchandising roles. International brands often promote successful Saudi store staff to regional or international positions.
