Saudi Driving License Conversion
After arrival in Saudi Arabia, drivers must convert their home country license to a Saudi license. The process involves: getting Iqama (residence permit), submitting your home country license, taking the Saudi driving theory test, taking a practical driving test (heavy vehicle drivers take heavy vehicle tests), eye test, and paying the license fee. Some employers handle the entire process. The Saudi license is valid for 10 years for car licenses.
Licensing and Eligibility Requirements
For light vehicle driver jobs, candidates must possess a valid driving license from their home country (with at least 2 years of driving experience). For heavy vehicle and trailer driving positions, a heavy commercial vehicle license is mandatory, along with at least 3 to 5 years of professional driving experience. All drivers must pass the Saudi Arabian driving test to convert their license. Age limit is 23 to 50 years, with good vision, no major medical issues, and a clean driving record without major accidents or traffic violations.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit a passport copy with at least 18 months validity, original driving license (home country), driving experience certificates from previous employers, no-objection certificate from past employer (if applicable), educational certificates, recent passport-size photographs, medical fitness certificate, police clearance certificate from their home country, and character certificate. For heavy vehicle drivers, additional documentation includes license endorsements for specific vehicle categories.
