Visa and Iqama Process
The recruitment agency or employer handles all visa documentation. After selection, you receive a work visa for Saudi embassy stamping. Upon arrival, the employer arranges your Iqama within 90 days. The Iqama serves as your official ID in Saudi Arabia and is renewed annually by the employer. Workers receive medical insurance cards along with their Iqama for healthcare access.
Benefits Included
Workers enjoy free company-provided accommodation in clean, shared labor camps with cooking facilities. Free food is provided either as cooked meals or a monthly food allowance of SAR 250 to SAR 400. Free transportation to and from work sites is standard. Medical insurance covers basic healthcare. After two years of service, workers receive end-of-service gratuity (15 days’ salary per year for first 5 years, then 30 days’ salary per year), paid annual leave of 21 to 30 days, and a return air ticket to their home country.
Working Hours and Conditions
Standard working hours are 8 hours per day, 6 days per week. Overtime is common and well-compensated. Most cleaning sites have rest areas, water dispensers, and clean restrooms for staff. Companies provide all cleaning equipment, chemicals, uniforms, and PPE (gloves, masks, boots). Friday is the standard weekly off, though shift workers may have different off days.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must be between 21 and 50 years of age, physically fit, and able to perform manual labor. No formal education is required, but basic literacy is helpful. Previous cleaning experience is preferred but not mandatory as on-the-job training is provided. A valid passport with at least 18 months of validity is required. Females are widely recruited for ladies’ sections of malls, hospitals, and schools.
Document Checklist
Required documents include passport with 18+ months validity, recent passport-size photographs, basic biodata, medical fitness certificate (GAMCA approved for South Asians), police clearance certificate, family certificate (if married), and educational certificates (any level). Most cleaning recruitment requires minimal documentation compared to skilled jobs.
How to Apply
Apply only through government-approved recruitment agencies. Submit your passport copy, photographs, and basic biodata. The agency arranges the visa, ticket, and pre-departure orientation. Avoid paying high fees to unauthorized sub-agents. The total process from application to departure usually takes 30 to 60 days for cleaning jobs.
Avoid Recruitment Fraud
Cleaning jobs are entry-level positions where many fraudulent agents target uneducated workers. Genuine Saudi cleaning jobs charge nominal fees (typically zero to SAR 5,000 for documentation). Never pay SAR 20,000+ to anyone. Always demand a written offer letter with salary, location, and benefits clearly stated. Cross-check the employer name with the Saudi labor ministry database.
